Who Loves Motown?

 

Obviously an overwhelming majority of public opinion doesn’t think Big Brother should rescue the Auto Industry.  Possibly, the 20% that do are from the rust belt.  What will happen to Detroit and our great state if the machine that once fueled America ~ fails?   We are the “Car Capital” of the world and produce about 85% of all vehicles made in America.   Michigan represents about 20% of all manufacturing in the United States.   Hmmm……

 

A Few Glimmers of Hope for Motown ~

 

3 Detroit Area Movie Studios are in the works ~ Dozens of movies were filmed here last year and many more projects have been approved for 2009.  Thousands of Jobs and Hundreds of Millions are being invested here.

 

Detroit is Home to the Nation’s Second Largest Theater District

 

The Detroit Institute of Art collection is one of the largest, most significant in the United States

 

The Band Played On ~ Birth Place of Motown and Techno Music

Detroit’s International Jazz Festival is the world’s largest “Free” Jazz Festival

 

Detroit is recognized as “Sports City” and the Sports Capital of the U.S.A.   Go Wings!

 

Marathon Petroleum is investing $1.5 Billion for a refinery expansion in southwest Detroit

 

Dearborn is Home to America’s Greatest History Attraction and Largest Museum Complex ~

Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village ~ Have you been there lately?   

 

Detroit’s Eastern Market and farmer’s center is the largest open-air flowerbed market in the nation

 

Detroit’s Zoo is home to the Arctic Ring of Life – the world’s largest polar bear exhibit

 

The Detroit River carries more tonnage than any other one shipping lane in the world.

 

Detroit Metropolitan Airport is one of the nation’s most recently expanded and modernized airports

 

The Woodward Dream Cruise attracts roughly 1-1.5 million people and upwards of 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles each year. It is now the largest single day event in the world.

 

Kid Rock isn’t going to Save Motown ~ the world’s largest tire in Allen Park isn’t going to Save Motown ~

Maybe Dave Bing or Hamtramck’s 30-ft tall neon Kielbasa will Save Motown ~
